Virtual Ways to Help Any Mom to Be

In a time when Moms to Be are just trying to navigate through the everyday challenges of pregnancy, we now have to deal with a global pandemic: COVID19. The funny thing is, I’m now involved with my wellness more than ever. This crisis has made me take a look at myself and the things I could do to ensure my mental, physical and spiritual health. Ive learned there is a lot of information out there; all at the tip of my fingers.

Online Classes

There are a few websites that I’ve been using that have helped me during these unparalleled times. I was supposed to take a couple of classes at my hospital but of course that was cancelled! Thankfully online classes saved the day! There are a few free options that companies offer but to get more in depth, most companies charge a small fee.

Here’s a few of my favorites:

Meditation

Never before have I been more thankful for technology. It has given me the ability to have guided meditations. I am able to get an App to help me through these crazy times?! And even one directly related to pregnancy?! Count me in! I use “Headspace” and “Expectful” DAILY!

Breast Pumps Through Insurance

You’ll be surprised how many things are available through insurance. One major thing to save money on are breast pumps, if you plan on breastfeeding. There are multiple resources to receive breast pumps through your insurance. I got mine through:

Baby Shower (or any baby related event) Virtual Options

Personally, I didn’t want to have a virtual shower. It would be hard trying to get about 140 people on a website all at the same time. I find other options, such as Shower By Mail or Drive-By Shower to be more appealing. That doesn’t mean it’s not a good option for someone else! For people who want it as an option, the link below looks very promising:

Virtual Connections while at Doctor Visits or Hospital.

I’m in my third trimester and recently had to have my first doctor’s appointment without my husband there. He has been to every appointment prior. It sucked, but we understood. The relief of knowing that he is allowed to be in the delivery room has been enough to make us grateful. But of course, there will be other doctor’s appointments until then, and there is the fact that I also really wanted my mother to be there during my delivery. Things may change by then, but if not; thank God for Video Streaming which would bring my loved ones by my side in those moments, be it virtually!

Last but not least… Social Media

Ive always had a love hate relationship with social media. I still believe we have to limit the time spent on it, but… it can also be a great resource for connecting with fellow pregnant women, healthcare workers, educational pages, and of course a way to express ourselves through words, pictures and videos. I’ve found so many good resources from suggestions made by friends messaging me about people and pages that could help. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone, especially those in similar situations. They might be a great comfort to you. I know a few mamas who have been a huge help to me.

Remember, these are memories that will live with us forever.

To anyone who loves a Mom to Be: continue supporting them and helping them make happy memories.

To all Moms to Be: we will forever be the women who were pregnant/ gave birth during a global pandemic! We are part of a special group that will be remembered for their tenacity, strength and of course, LOVE! Lets continue to spread our positivity… from a safe distance of course.
